Hello everyone! Today I’ll be showing you the 10 BEST DIVI FEATURES and how to use them.

Once you’re familiar with these features, you’ll start to work more efficiently and productively throughout your website building process by implementing these features into your workflow!

#1 Installing Your API Key

As a beginner, when you download the Divi Theme. The very first thing you need to do is make sure that you have installed your API Key! If you haven’t already.

To install it, you must go to the Elegant Themes Website then log in to your Members Area.

After logging in to your Members Area, you’ll see next to Product Downloads -> click My Account.
You will see to the bottom left is the API Key Button.

To get your API Key, you just need to click the API Key Button, therefore, revealing your API Key to you. Now copy your API Key and navigate to your WordPress Dashboard.

In your WordPress Dashboard, look to the bottom left and hover over Divi click Theme Options.
Once you’re in Theme Options – look to the right side of your screen and click
Updates.

After clicking Updates, you will need to enter your Username & API Key. Once you have added your Username & API Key, you can click Save Changes!

#2 Custom Color Palettes

To find your Color Palette, you need to go to your WordPress Dashboard, and hover over Divi then click Theme Options. In the Theme Options, you will see Color Pickers Default Palette.

In each circle, you can add all the hex codes of the colors that you will use for your website. After adding the desired colors, click Save Changes!

What happens is that it will replace the default colors of your color picker in the Divi Page Builder with the colors that you added throughout your whole website.

#3 Scroll Effects

The scroll effects tool is the most POWERFUL feature that makes your website come to life and amaze the people that visit your website – and you don’t even need to use code to make it work!

To find the scroll effects feature, go to your website and enable the visual builder. Then click a module you want to add the scroll effect – navigate to Advanced, scroll down till you see Scroll Effects, and click it.

Here you will see the settings to create your scroll effect!

So get creative, start making your dream scroll effects and bring your website to life to amuse your visitors as they scroll through your website!

#4 Global Presets

So you spent about 2-5 minutes designing your button for your website. Ideally, you wanna keep it somewhere to access it when you’re building your website.

With the Global Presets feature, this will come in very handy when creating styles for your website!

So if you want to save a style globally, click on one of your modules. This can be done on any module!

Navigate to the purple header of the module, then you will see under the name Button Settings you will see Preset: Default. Click Create New Preset From Current Styles. You’ll then be prompt to enter the name of your preset.

What you call the preset depends on what module you have chosen, but you can still call it anything you like. After naming your preset, you will see a button saying Assign Preset to Default.

This means assigning your style as a default preset will change the original style to the design style you created. Hence even creating buttons on other web pages will be set to the design style you saved as a global preset.

Now that you have saved your global preset, you can use your global preset on any website without creating your module styles from scratch.

#5 Importing & Exporting

So you designed the header of your home page, and you want to place it on multiple pages on your website without having to make it from scratch.

With the Import & Export feature, you can export your whole site or any piece of your site and import it into another page within minutes!

For Example:

Let’s go to your home page and enable the visual builder. Click the plus icon at the bottom-center of your screen and click the Portability Icon.

The Portability Icon looks like this.

Then you should already see Import, so click on Export. Name your home page whatever you want, and click Export! You should see at the bottom-left of your screen a json file already downloaded.

Now that you have your home page in a json file, you can import your home page or element into any site and use them to build your next page!

#6 The Theme Builder

The Divi Theme Builder is where you design elements of your website, make them global, and specify what you really want to make our templates of.

To find your Theme Builder, go to your WordPress Dashboard, and scroll down to while looking to the bottom-left of your screen – you should see Divi -> Hover over Divi -> click Theme Builder.

Then you should see the Theme Builder!

Let’s go for a test run! We’re going to create a global footer.

In your Theme Builder, click Global Footer. Here you will be given 2 options to build one from scratch or choose a layout from the custom library – we’re going to use a layout for now.

So click on Add From Library and select a page from the layout pack you like and click Use This Layout! After that, hover over Global Footer and click the pen tool to edit it.

Make sure to delete all the sections except the footer.

Once all that is done. Click the “+” icon and click Save Changes. After the changes have been saved, click the “x” icon at the top right of your screen and click Save Changes again.

Visit your website and check out all of your other pages! You’ll see that your global footer is applied to all of them automatically. NOW IS THAT COOL OR WHAT!

#7 Email Opt-ins

If you want to build an email list, it’s super important to have all the integrations in the palm of your hand. So let’s go ahead and create your first Email Optin!

Let’s begin by going to your website and enable the visual builder.

Create a new section or row, and click the gray “+” icon to choose a module -> search for Email Optin -> select Email Optin, then you will be given a default style to play around with.

Before you design your Email Optin, most importantly, let’s look at the integrations!

If you choose AWeber, ConvertKit, or MailChimp to connect to your Email Opt-in. While you’re in Content, scroll down and navigate to Email Account and click on the first dropdown called Service Provider. After clicking the dropdown, select your service provider.

To select your Email List, you will see underneath Service Provider, another dropdown, click the dropdown and pick an Email List.

If your Email List doesn’t show up, you can click on the ADD Button, therefore prompting you to add your Account Name, API Key, and API Secret.

After filling out the form, it will show you the Email List you want to link to your Email Optin Form. And any time someone subscribes, they’re going to be connected to that particular list!

Now that you know how to set up your Email List, you can start designing your Email Opt-in the way you want to start building your email list!

#8 Importing Fonts

When building your website, you might not like the fonts provided to you, so instead, you want to import your own fonts to your website to suit the style of your page.

To import a font, click on your Text Module -> navigate to Design -> click Text -> finally, you should see Text Font -> click the box that says Default.

This is what you will see!

(Make sure to right-click on the zip file that includes your font and click Extract Here, which exports your font from the zip file!)

Simply click Upload, select your font, and away you go!

#9 Filters

For this feature, you can find it by navigating to your visual builder and select one of your layers that contains imagery or graphics. After selecting a layer from your website, go to Design, scroll down till you see Filters, and click it.

Usually, you’ll need to go into Photoshop to edit your images to change the hue, brightness/contrast, opacity, or add blur.

However, with the Filters feature, you can finally edit your images’ look in an instance without opening Photoshop and compressing your image size after editing.

#10 Pre-Made Layouts

Having the Pre-made Layouts feature is very useful when building websites for you and/or your clients. Starting with an empty canvas can also be stressful because you don’t have a design to work with.

With Pre-made Layouts, you can simply import them onto your new page and work on it from there.

It gets easy as you start to get ideas coming to mind, therefore, creating your styles to make the website look the way you imagined it. So let’s go and find the Premade Layouts!

The first thing you need to do is go to your WordPress Dashboard -> Click Pages -> Click a page you want to edit -> Then click the “+” icon.

After clicking the “+” icon, you will see lots of pre-made layouts for you to use! You can click on any of them, choose a page from that layout pack, and click Use This Layout.

You can do anything like replace images, fonts and remake the elements to your liking. As simple as that. So go try it out and give yourself a boost to building websites using pre-made layouts!
